The Rio was alive with energy today as poker players, fans, and press flooded the Rio for the start of the WSOP 2008. †It was a familiar scene for me as I have been playing cash games and railing my friends there for the past two years, but this year I actually got to play. †I happened to run into my manager Nick Rainey and his girlfriend and my assistant Channing at the valet and we walked in together talking about details of my new website.†
I have been looking forward to this day since I was 16.†† I have had to spend the past two summers on the bench, cheering on friends at the RIO.† It is every poker player’s favorite time of year, and I cannot wait for tomorrow.† All of my poker friends from around the country are in town and its a lot of fun catching up with everyone and hanging out. † It will be a dream come true when I sit down today in the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold em event.† It should be a small but tough field with all of the well known pros.† I have not played a ton of pot limit hold em, but it is a very skill full game and requires a lot of deep thinking.† I doubt there is a player in the field who is going to be more excited and ready to play than I am.††
The past two weeks were very busy for me at the Bellagio. The cash games were so good a few times, that I decided to take a shot and play bigger then ever before. I played so big I was sitting in Bobby’s Room playing in a game with Sammy Farha, Patrik Antonius, and a few other top poker players. It was a real thrill and I cannot wait for the WSOP and another crack at the nosebleed stakes.
