Epic Running Bad

06*26*08

So I wake up today work out mediate and am feeling good vibes. I was really excited for the 5k 6 max WSOP event as I felt like I had a huge edge.
6th Hand in I get 6 bets in and finally get all in on a T42 flop with TT. My opponent groans and flipped up 22. The 2c came on the turn followed by the 3s on the river.

I went home and started grinding 10/20-50/100NL online. Broke about even. I saw the player varmiment sitting along at 200/400 on prima. I only had 80,000 in my account and have never played 200/400NL with 100% of my own action. But I saw him play this hand the other day and figured it might be a good time to take a shot:

That’s OK I figure he seems very weak and I feel I have a good chance of winning it back. About 40 hands later (I’ve seen him check-minraise with trips twice than check down in the 40 hands in between)

I was very confused when I saw the pot go to him. I had to triple check his hand. I don’t even know what to think. I don’t feel so good at the moment. For those who don’t play poker in the last hand my oppotent had to hit turn 5 river 5 to win the hand for 80,000. He is 49:1 not to do this.

Oh man … this is beyond bad. It might be a good time to get away from the game until the main event of WSOP comes around. This is ridiculous. I really am suspicious of online poker. I’m a 15 year veteran programmer and hacker whose most recent job was a VP at a computer security company backed by venture capitalist who backed Google …

Online poker software is about the easiest thing on earth to crack and cloak. I’m amazed you guys do not realize this and continue playing. Online crime hides. In other words, the thieves do not take all your money at once. It happens over years – mostly 4-6 years – because that’s the only way they can evade the attention of an understaffed FBI, Interpol, and SCIIA.

Play ‘live’ games good2cu and avoid online. I like your posts and it keeps me young to read what all the young ballers are up to. But, seeing this kind of stuff compelled me to warn you from the perspective of someone who has been fighting online cheating and crime for 10+ years on the frontlines.

Online poker players are naive Andrew – don’t be one yourself. No regulation or oversight in combo with software vulnerabilities easy to mirror with both virtualization software, botware, and malware (keyloggers) is a recipe that is quite obvious to us in computer security.

that’s an unreal post. who is this player verm? you should just focus on wsop and stay off the computers and win a bracelet man. good luck with wsop!

  8. Mark Says:

I don’t even know how to describe that rigged bullshit.

I have seen you play online, and am very impressed with how far you have taken your passion for this game. You have a great natural charisma, and are very lucky to be where you are. Take it as part of the territory, and maybe give some thought to the programmer above. Your natural optimism in life should get you over this in minutes.

I don’t play stakes anywhere close to you, but I have seen this happen time and time again online. It is so sickening….

Keep jamming it dude..you are a great player.

Sucks bro. That’s the price we play for poker though right? The reality is though, We often suck out on our opponents as well, of course it really sucks when they do it to us though. Enough about Online poker being rigged though guys. Thats BS people are forgetting that luck is apart of this game.

  17. Randy H Says:

Online poker rigged? Dumb. Think about it this way. If you have 55,000 people playing 24 hours a day and you are getting a piece of that action, you are making PILES of money. You will protect the integrity of that site and the events. Rigged? Think about it this way. Imagine the WSOP having 65,000 entrants and it runs 24 hours a day for 3 years. Would we hear of some seriously shitty beats? I think so. I remember at Paradise I flopped the nut flush and lost to the straight flush. I’ve lost quad 4′s to quad 10′s. If you play or see millions of hands you will see it all. How do I know for sure its not rigged? I won $8,000 and I suck
